To make your materials which have been developed with LT Development Tool accessible for public, the materials should be placed onto a web server. Technically speaking, the files must be copied from your development computer to the web server’s hard drive. The web server which keeps your files on its hard drive is your host server.
How to choose host server?
♦ The company you work for already has web hosting service. Contact IT support representative for help or ask company’s management to organize such kind of help.
♦ In many cases the recommendation above is useless because of high level of corporate bureaucracy. Besides that, IT department is never interested in extra work and responsibility.
♦ To make our customers independent, create comfortable development environment and make LT Development Tool more attractive we offer web hosting service on the LanguageTeach corporate server. The basic package is free. Advanced packages are vary between $5 and $15 /mo depend on disk space and traffic quota ( all prices can be changed at any time). It’s also possible to create custom account for those, who need more disk space or traffic quota.

Disk spaceSize of a disk space depends on the material you want to publish. A lot of disk space take media files. For example one minute audio with more or less acceptable quality ( the better sound quality the larger audio file ) takes about 200 KB. So 25 MB disk can keep (highly approximately) up to 2 hours audio. Video files are much larger. One minute of low quality small video takes about 5 to 7 MB. So, if you want to use video please order custom account.

Data transferTwo parameters should be taken into account: size of your materials and number students who work with the materials. Every time when student listens audio from your web site he or she produces data traffic equal to the size of the audio file. So when 20 students working on the same material listen 50 KB audio file, it produces 1 MB data traffic. (Fortunately, modern browsers keep a lot of data including some media files in the local cash memory and if user request the same file again, browser load it from the memory rather then Internet, saving time for user and traffic for us. But it much depend on media format and browser configuration.). Please look into our "Support" section where we demonstrate how to create medium-level quality small size audio and graphical files. So, if you don’t use large audio files or you don’t expect many visitors, take 250 MB option, otherwise take 750 MB or 1500 MB option. If you plan to use video please order custom account. (monthly)

E-mail accountYou can order e-mail box: account_name@eslinstructor.net ( for example: johnsmith@eslinstructor.net ) This is web-based service. To access an e-mail box user should open http://mail.eslinstructor.net web page and enter his/her account name and password. This e-mail account is especially useful for Online-Test developers, who want to separate their regular mail and tests reports.
We create folder with customer’s "User_Name" on our corporate server. Customer can see it in the "Windows Explorer" under "My Network Place" header and consider the folder as a regular folder on his/her local computer. So publishing process is just coping files from your development folder into network folder. The picture on the right illustrates it. (Click to enlarge).
Do I need to develop personal web site to make my material available?
No, you don’t. Your material is available as soon as it’s uploaded onto the web server. But most developers wont to create personal web site to give their students more convenient way to reach educational materials using menu and links instead of typing address directly in the address bar, and provide their students with information regarding current events, schedule, etc.

Can I modify my web site?
Yes, you can. You can modify, substitute or delete any file from your folder, create subfolders and folder’s hierarchy, create your own index page, completely redesign web site architecture etc.
