Fourier transform

in mathematics, a particular integral transform. As a transform of an integrable complex-valued function   f of one real variable, it is the complex-valued function   f of a real variable defined by the following equation

ƒ(ξ) = (2π) e -ιχξ ƒ(χ)  ∂χ
                      -∞
In the integral equation

ƒ(y) = ∫ K(χ , y) F(χ) ∂χ
          -∞

the function   f (y) is an integral transform of F(x), and K(x,y) is the kernel. Often the reciprocal relationship is valid:

F(y) = ∫ K′(χ , y) ƒ(χ) ∂χ
          -∞

gives the n th Cesàro mean of the Fourier series
of ƒ(x).

The Solution Process

The solution process for
NH4NO3 (s) NH4NO3 (aq)

The energy of this process is calculated using heats of formation given in Table (not shown here)

ΔH°soln = Σ[ΔH°f (product) ] -  Σ[ΔH°f (reactant)]

  = ΔH°f [ NH4NO3 (aq) ] - ΔH°f [ NH4NO3 (s) ]

  = -339.9 kJ/mol - (-365.6 kJ/mol) = +25.7 kJ/mol

The process is endothermic as indicated by the fact that ΔH°soln has a positive value.
